DEATH OF CHRISH CORNELL

Crish Cornell (July 20, 1964-May 18, 2017)

Chris Cornell was an American musician, singer and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. Cornell was also known for his numerous solo works and soundtrack contributions since 1991.

Cornell is considered one of the chief architects of the 1990s grunge movement, and is well known for his extensive catalog as a songwriter, his nearly four octave vocal range and his powerful vocal belting technique. He released four solo studio albums, Euphoria Morning, Carry On, Scream, Higher Truth and the live album Songbook.

Cornell suffered from depression and substance abuse problems. He died by suicide in his Detroit hotel room early on the morning of May 18, 2017, after performing at a Soundgarden concert the night before.

Cornell struggled with depression and had multiple addictions (mostly alcohol and prescription drugs), which he was able to manage from roughly 1980 until 1997, when Soundgarden broke up and his first marriage was falling.

Around 12:15 am on May 18, 2017, Cornell was found dead by his bodyguard in the bathroom of his room at the MGM Grand in Detroit after performing at a show with Soundgarden at the Fox Theatre on May 17. He was lying on the floor with an exercise band around his neck and blood in his mouth. An MGM medic and EMS personnel were unable to revive Cornell. Cornell was pronounced dead by a doctor at 1:30 am. Police ruled out homicide by reviewing hotel surveillance video, which showed nobody entering or exiting the suite after his bodyguard left around 11:35 pm. The cause of death was determined to be suicide by hanging. Cornell was 52 years old. Footage of his final concert was posted on You Tube. Cornell's wife said "When we spoke after the show, I noticed he was slurring his words, he was different. When he told me he may have taken an extra Ativan or two, I contacted security and asked that they check on him."

On June 2, 2017, the Wayne County Medical Examiner released its autopsy and toxicology report in the death of Cornell. The coroner confirming that the manner of death was suicide by hanging and that "drugs did not contribute" to the cause of death.

DEATH OF CHESTER CHARLES BENNINGTON

Chester Charles Bennington (March 20, 1976--July 20, 2017)

Chester Charles Bennington, an American singer and songwriter best known as the frontman for the rock band Linkin Park. Bennington first gained prominence as a vocalist following the release of Linkin Park's debut album, Hybrid Theory in 2000, which became a commercial success. It was the best selling debut album of the decade, as well as one of the few albums ever to hit that many sales. Linkin Park's following studio albums, from Meteora to One More Light continued the band's success.

On July 20, 2017, Bennington was found dead in his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, from suicide by hanging.

His housekeeper discovered his body around 9:00 am PDT on July 20, 2017. Mike Shinoda confirmed his death on Twitter, writing, "Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one." On July 21, Brian Elias, the chief of operations for the office of the medical examiner coroner, confirmed that a half full bottle of alcohol was found at the scene, but no other drugs were present. The band announced that they had canceled the North American leg of their One More Light Tour following Bennington's death and that ticket will be refunded.

Bennington's death occured on what would have been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday. Cornell, who was a close friend of Bennington, had also died of suicide by hanging two months prior. Shinoda noted that Bennington was very emotional when the band performed "One More Light" in his honour, where he could not finish singing the song, be it in rehearsal or in a live performance setting. Bennington sand Leonard Cohen's song "Hallelujah" at Cornell's funeral. He was also the godfather of Cornell's son Christopher

Donald Trump's Awkward Moments at the NATO Summit

Scores of world leaders, including President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May, German chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, gathered in Brussels 25 May 2017 Thursday for the highly anticipated NATO summit.

But rather than clashes over how to challenge ISIS and awkward accusations by Trump that 23 of the 28 NATO members were freeloaders not paying their fair share for military protection, what really captivated the world was the footage of awkward body language between the US President and various world leaders.

Trump appeared to push Prime Minister Dusko Markovic of Montenegro, the country set to become NATO's 29th member on June 5, out of the way at a photocall of world leaders.

Watch Donald Trump Handshake Rejected By Polish First Lady In Hilariously Awkward Exchange

The commander in chief was attending a ceremony with first lady Melania Trump in Poland July 6 2017 Thursday afternoon, accompanied by President Andrzej Duda and his wife, Agata Kornhauser- Duda. Like any other political soiree, the time came for a beautiful photo op during which the leaders would shake hands with each other and their wives, reinforcing their nation's alliances on a world stage in a tangible and historically documented exchange.

Videos of the moment show both first families walking on stage to perform their official greetings in front of the media, as Trump claps and appears to showcase his wife Melania Trump. Unlike the American president and his wife, Duda holds hands with his wife as the two walk out to accompany the Trumps.

The two leaders shake hands, with Trump leaning in and patting the Polish president on his right shoulder. Trump then leans further, toward Duda's wife, extending his arm for a handshake with the first lady. Instead, she glides past him, walking toward Melania Trump and reaching out to embrace her instead of the US president.

The exchange immediately went viral, as viewers wrote that Trump was "owned" by the Polish first lady.

Trump And Macron's Bizarre Handshake Is The Most Awkward Yet

The Donald Trump handshake wars strike again.

Since taking over the Oval Office, the president has had some bizarre physical interactions with world leaders and their wives during state visits and numerous global forums. French President Emmanuel Macron seems to be the consistent bearer of arms against the Trump grip, battling the American leader's apparent power moves with his own white knuckled clench.

The pair's gripping handshakes was caught by the cameras again on Friday as Trump toured France during its Bastille Day celebrations. It was hard for reporters not to capture the moment. Videos show the encounter lasting at least 25 seconds as the two walk down an avenue refusing to let go of each other before stopping to greet their wives- then shaking hands with each other once more.

Its unclear whether Trump and Macron are using a show of physical strength against each other during their extensively photographed greetings and exchanges, or if the two president's handshakes are simply the awkward gift that keeps on giving for viewers across the globe. They typically result in viral videos and internet analysis on the state of the French and American alliance under both presidents.

The awkward handshake is a relatable faux pas regardless of political identity. In Trump's latest exchange with Macron, he appears to search for a way out of the overdrawn interaction without being the first man to let go of his grip, continuing to hold the French president's hand as he greets and kisses his wife, first lady Brigitte Macron.

French President Emmanuel Macron shakes hands with President Donald Trump as first lady Melania Trump looks on after the traditional Bastille Day military parade in Paris on July 14

Aerial footage of the moment Trump shakes Macron's hand shows him patting the president's hands, patting his chest, swinging the hand back and forth and eventually clenching it to his own chest.

The two had an uncomfortably strong handshake when they met for the first time after Macron's election victory this year, then again at the G7 summit in Sicily in May, where they couldn't seem to stop shaking each other's hands.

Call it Trump diplomacy or a really strange desire to prove one's power over another person. Regardless, it doesn't appear the Trumpshake is going anywhere.

Indian PM Narendra Modi escapes infamous Donald Trump handshake with bear hug

The Indian Prime Minister has escaped the infamously tense and awkward handshakes with Donald Trump and other world leaders by going in for a bear hug more than once.

Narendra Modi met with the US President at the White House for the first time and avoided the "yanking" handshake of Mr Trump, who tends to pull the other person towards him roughly.

French President Emmanuel Macron had a tense moment with Mr Trump when the duo met in Italy for the G7 meeting, gripping his hand tight for several seconds and appearing to grit his teeth in the process.
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau was one of the first leaders to visit the White House and cameras caught an awkward look on his face just ahead of his Oval Office handshake.

Mr Trump. who reportedly has a fear of germs, refused to shake German Chancellor Angela Merkel's hand on her visit to Washington, appearing to not hear her asking if they should so in front of cameras.
He has also had awkward encounters with other world leaders, like the time cameras caught him pushing Montenegrin Dusko Markovic out of his way at the NATO summit in May 2017.
Mr Modi is known for hugging his global counterparts, endearing him to many voters. The move seemed to catch Mr Trump off guard but the pair shared several hugs during the course of the visit.
"Given Mr Modi's huggig record, it would have been a very ill informed US team that would not have known Mr Modi was going to go for it."

Mr Modi swooped in for two big bear hugs with the US President during their joint statements wrapping his arms around Mr Trump's midsection and ending their first embrace with a lingering handshake that stretched the President's arm between their two lecterns.

After wrapping up his own remarks, he hugged his US counterpart a second time, placing his head close to the President's shoulder in video that quickly spread around social media.

Mr Modi offered yet another embrace as he departed the White House. After shaking Mr Trump's hand, Mr Modi went in for a third and final public hug- resting his head near Mr Trump's left shoulder, then near his right. The President welcomed the parting gesture, patting Mr Modi on the back.

Mr Trump is a self admitted germaphobe who preferred tossing his trademark red baseball caps into crowds at campaign rallies over shaking numerous hands along the rope line. But he has been willing to express America's special relationship with a select few.
